Settled in Hawaii

Danger lurks outside our rented condo as the picture below shows the warning about falling coconuts and their blocked off landing zone.

Christmas is a bigger deal here than in New Zealand. I only had a bright yellow sweater to wear when I posed with my Kailua Clinic mates on “ugly Christmas sweater day”. What they lack in fashion sense is made up by their taste in food as we had a wonderful Thai buffet as a group holiday meal.

I turned 70 on Dec. 19th and was serenaded by the congregation of the nearby Catholic church the Sunday prior. Dianne made me my favorite chocolate cake and took me to Roy’s Original Restaurant near Honolulu where I had luscious butterfish and topped it off with both the purple panna cotta ( a special of the house) and upside down pineapple cake as pictured. One can eat (or overeat) well in the tropics.

  1. Happy, Happy belated birthday, brother! I’m waiting for your upcoming post about entering the over-70 extreme surfing competition.

    Hang Ten, and Merry Christmas!

    Mahalo,
