FALL SEASON APPROACHES

The daylight hours here are slowly shrinking as we approach fall. The Southern Alps have had 2 good snowfalls and the pictures show the snowcaps. Closer to sea level we are enjoying nice weather with average highs of 70 predicted for this week and next. Today we rode bikes across town to our favorite destination and found a few more local roads to explore. Dianne’s sister, Julie, and niece, Lily, arrive later today and a trip to the west coast of the south island is planned.

We get questions about recent record flooding in New Zealand and the subsequent cyclone 2 weeks later but that double whammy all happened 600 miles north of us on the north island near the country’s largest city, Auckland. We were lucky as we got just a sprinkling of rain from the edge of the cyclone.

I’ll bet that beauty is just not getting old. It’s tough to find snow-covered alps on a bike ride from Lambs Grove. Speaking of Lambs Grove, that’s a great caption for the second picture!
