On Jan. 7th I was offered a ride on 2 small, single engine aircraft. My clinic boss, Dr. Johan Vlok and his 83 yo friend were each flying north to Lake Sumner and I got to go along. Fred took me outbound and let me steer a bit after we were up between nearby mountains going “low and slow”. The first picture shows his steady hand and the next is our view of Johan’s plane in flight.

Near the lake, Fred buzzed the edge of a friend’s sheep paddock making room for our landing. We then had tea and a snack before taking off with me in the seat behind Johan in his plane for the return trip. The following photo shows Johan on the left and Fred on the right under Johan’s wing. If the stars align, we will do another roundtrip adding fly fishing in Lake Sumner as a bonus.
