Upside Down Moon and Stars

I noticed last week that the waxing gibbous moon was lit on the left side here (see the first photo) where I know it is lit on the right side in the northern hemisphere. I consulted google and found the explanation that appears in the second image. The moon actually appears to be rotated 180 degrees and the same is true of constellations. Orion is prominent in our New Zealand skies and we see its “belt” angle the opposite direction in its inverted position here.
